WAVE IN HEAD - STUDIO - KURZWEIL K2000

Kurzweil´s K2000 was a little sensation when it came to the light of the day as a real synthesizer/sampler with workstation-ambitions, extensive functions and a bunch of new, fresh ideas. Its so called VAST-synthesis consisted of alghorhythms with (almost) any changeable synthesis modules, and that´s why it was called the first "digital modular system". Consequently my interest was really vast.

synthesis:
subractive/Waveshaping/AM/RM
voices:24
oscillators:up to 2 per layer
filters:HP, BP, LP - modules
LFOs:2
envelopes:3
sound: 75%
The K2000 was a discordant adventure right from the beginning. On one hand it is very flexible in terms of altering (even own) samples, on the other hand it had never the punch of an ASR10 (the K2000 can read ASR 10 samples into its memory directly from ASR10-harddisks). Its sounds can give the mix a certain mostly harsh flair, when used properly. Basses and switch sounds are an absolute weakness of the Kurzweil due to slow and weak designed envekopes.
